I become very amused at the polarization Fendi Uomo causes among those who have never worn it before. This is serious perfumery folks and the choice of notes is not for the feint of heart. I'm not insinuating that Fendi Uomo is loud and knock-you-down boisterous. On me, it is not, but for others it seems to be judging from their opinions. It all boils down to perception I imagine.

Fendi Uomo opens with an aromatic and dense accord of spicy citrus, wood tones and musk. This surely isn't your everyday salutation and the construction of Fendi's topnotes are reminiscent of a heart or base accord in other masculines. It means business from the second it spreads out over skin.

Wearing Fendi Uomo always reminds me of an overcast, late afternoon. It's not ominous or even a brooding creation, but it's serious and manages to keep the uplifting rays of the sun at bay. The spicy aspect of Uomo is the beating heart and puts a face on this pensive fragrance.

The combination of Coriander, Angelica and Cypress is an interesting choice. Between them, they tender a palpable array of spice, woodiness, some musk and even a subtle balsamic smoke. Until the base and drydown arrive, Fendi Uomo is built around these three implementations. Sure, they are accented some by the others, but on me they are the cornerstone upon which Uomo is constructed.

This scent comes out of the gate at full gallop, but within 10 minutes diminishes to a respectable presence. Strong, yet sans a piercing volume, Uomo is mature, focused and possesses no diplomacy. You either stand with him or against him. Reject him or rejoice......it's your choice.

The base and drydown is the martini after a hard day at work. This state of restfulness is very pleasant and in stark contrast to the spicy and busy opening. Hints of earth, resin, vanilla and leathery wood tones cast their shadow over the ever softening spice and bring Fendi Uomo home.

Sillage is very good and after fading is resuscitated through body heat. Longevity is 6 hours plus with the last few being a close scent. Thumbs up from Aromi for this classic masculine from Fendi and a sample wear is most definitely recommended.

  1. Fendi Uomo is so rich and leathery. It smells like the inside of a Fendi handbag mixed with wonderful things in the bag. Maybe some cedar chips and a few herbs. Throw in a lemon or two. Class all the way.
