Orange Sanguine by Atelier

******It seems I have mistakenly attributed this fragrance to Mandy Aftel. A big thank you to the comments section for pulling my coat on this. Allow me start over with an edit ********* I shall also do a little more digging into both houses as I have sampled a few of Mandy's scents and enjoyed them. Once again, my apologies.....and THANKS !!!**************

************************************************************

I like to read reviews before posting my own for no other reason than to see just how many people don't like the scent I am about to wear. I usually end up liking quite a few of the ones with mediocre reviews attributed to them. Orange Sanguine kind of fell into the middle ground on that respect with one reviewer stating that the citrus note ( Orange) was completely unrealistic. I disagree. The orange notes in this monstrous cologne not only give me the slightly bitter peel, but I have the taste in my mouth. It's the exact same aftertaste I have once I swallow a wedge of tangelo and wait about 30 seconds before putting another wedge in my mouth.

The listed notes are : Blood Orange, Bitter Orange, Jasmine, South African Geranium, Woody Amber, Tonka and Sandalwood.

For the time it normally takes a fragrance to get me into the base accord, Orange Sanguine is still in the topnotes pumping out........you guessed it........oranges baby. Dare I say there is a hint of tonka poking its head out, but it's outclassed by the muscular citrus. Hell......every other listed note in here is outclassed. This fragrance ( at least on me) is very linear and it appears the formula may be a bit lopsided in its construction.

With that said, I want you to know that I like this scent. I would love wearing this in the summertime and especially at the softball fields where I spend an inordinate amount of time coaching my team from May till August. Imagine Aromi sauntering through his dugout in the blistering heat ; leaving the scent of steroided orange groves in his wake upon his unsuspecting and malodorous players. Ah yes.......I can already hear my young buck players saying " Damn coach.......you smell better than my girl on date night".

They would be right indeed. How could I not? I'm wearing kick ass orange from Mandy Aftel and have the funny feeling I should be in Miami at this very moment. Thumbs up from Aromi for Orange Sanguine.

  1. I believe this cologne is by an outfit called Atelier, and Mandy Aftel's line is called Aftelier.

Thank you for reviewing this, as I have been craving orange scents lately. At first,I figured maybe I was just thirsty and wanted ornage juice, but no..

I would like to try their Trefle Pur cologne as well.

  2. as JoanElaine said, Aftelier Perfumes and Atelier Cologne are two different lines.

That said, I really want to try this. Sounds wonderful. Thanks for the review!

  3. Thank you for straightening me out on this. I will have to edit this review for stupidity lol.

Now, my stupidity aside.....I have sampled scents that I have ( until now) attributed to Mandy Aftel. I will have to backtrack my notes to see if I screwed up like I have on this release.

I have no clue how I managed to think they were the same house....except for the close spelling....but that's no excuse. I still loved the scent however, but then again, I love orange.

Thanks again folks for the heads up.
