Bergamote by The Different Company

Bergamot, Ginger, Orange Blossom, Green Leaf, Rhubarb, Musk.

Some fragrances are meant to simply wear without having to think. Bergamote by TdC is one of these scents. If you're a fan of citrus, this should be, by all accounts, a comfort scent. It's an extremely easy wear that performs for either gender and smells very pleasant.

Bergamote will not expose you to the wow factor. Instead, it will encapsulate, soothe and empower you to carry the aroma of oranges that glisten with moisture. This is slightly zesty peel that almost shimmers the first few minutes it's applied. This is fresh and alive with no seasonal barriers and would certainly shine in spring and summer.

As you would expect from a citric dominant, the presence is satisfactory the first 5 minutes or so. It dissipates after the opening accord and wears much closer to the skin. Personally, I have no qualms about this aspect since I'm not seeking serious projection from a fragrance that's designed to perform in warm temperatures and close quarters. Bergamote is polite like it should be and possesses the most important factor that concerns me. It smells very good and that's the whole point. I can wear this in spring and summer, knowing I will not impose on those around me and smell terrific in the process.

Once 15 minutes has elapsed, Bergamote develops a subtle tea like note that merges with the orange. The citrus intro evolved from multiple citric notes like orange, lemon and hints of lime to become a moist and sweet orange peel. The addition of the phantom tea note is favorable, but perhaps others will process it as something different entirely.

The drawback is longevity. I get a few hours from Bergamote, but the majority of it is a close wear. It stands to reason that reapplications will be necessary and that can be problematic since Bergamote is not cheap.

Thumbs up from Aromi, but this comes with a longevity warning. I think The Different Company did a nice job creating this fragrance, but muffed the price point rather badly.
