Hunter by Atkinson

I hadn't much luck finding an acceptable image of this 1987 Spicy Fougypre from J&E Atkinson, LTD. This tiny pic will have to suffice.

Hunter opens with a very nice top accord of blended citrus and a hint of basil. The basil adds a nice green veneer as well as spice. Once the topnotes settled, I was reminded of Victor's Wall Street. Hunter however is slightly better executed with a less pronounced green vibe. Where Victor is spatial, Hunter is more condensed.

The cinnamon and clove in the heartnotes are somewhat disjointed for a short time. They seem to open first. Neither are strong but together emit a convoluted aroma that passes rather quickly. The middle accord is comprised mostly of spices and soon settles down with the arrival of geranium and lavender. The moss dominates sandalwood and vetiver in the base perpetuating the earthy green veneer as Hunter dries down. The sillage and longevity are marginal, however Hunter is a very enjoyable and subtle green that keeps me continually sniffing.
