Teatro Alla Scala - Krizia

I tried Comete by Chanel today and wanted to write about how Chanel is going by the way of Roger Dove - copying old masterpieces. I did not know where to post that and then I realized I have been neglecting this blog. When I logged in I saw an unfinished post I wrote a year ago about Teatro Alla Scala by Krizia. Teatro is the best full bodied floral - better than any Chanel or Patou. Even better than Gucci L'Arte.  A brief background: Teatro Alla Scala is an Opera theatre in Milan. The bottle's design is an homage to the theatre and the perfume an homage to its sophisticated patrons. I wanted to write a symphony for it. Maybe some day. For now here are few notes I wrote comparing EDT vs EDP.  And if you don't have Teatro, your wardrobe is incomplete Rose, Jasmine, Tuberose. Jammy berries (more in EDP) . Honey note listed is probably the jammy part Vetiver & moss - more in EDT Rose and carnation is more than jasmine and that is what separates it from other florals like J...

Spazio by Krizia ( Uomo)

This past week, I have had the opportunity to samples numerous scents that I hadn't gotten around to, in spite of wanting to for some time. Unfortunately, a few of them were surprisingly unpleasant and I can count Spazio Uomo among them. The combination of neroli and violet in the opening is off putting to me. I am not offended by bitter accords per se, but this duo is nose cringing. Within minutes, I am left with a cauterized rubber aroma.....and that's enough to ruin the rest of the wear for me. There's numerous floral components to Spazio, but none can salvage this for me. To be fair, this is simply preference and others seem to hold this masculine in high regard. I actually enjoyed the very first minute of the opening, but then all the notes started to unfold and Spazio came off as disjointed. The opening is a sharp citric with green attributes. "Jagged" may be too strong a term, but I recall Krizia Moods having this same type of effect on me. The openings...

Krizia Moods Uomo

Aldehyde, Bergamot, Cardamom, Coriander, Lavender, Lemon. Carnation, Geranium, Ginger, Jasmine, Muguet, Pimento, Rose. Amber, Cedar, Leather, Musk, Oakmoss, Patchouli, Tonka bean, Vanilla. In spite of tobacco not being listed, Krizia Moods Uomo has an excellent, but sharp tobacco vibe running clean through it from the beginning. There's a "cutting" quality to Moods Uomo as it exhibits jagged edges and it reminds me of something that's restless. The aldehyde opening is extremely lucid and immediately it is followed up by the carnation and geranium. This creates the grittiness. The citrus is content to be an assistance accord here. The main characters in the first half of this play are the spicy floral notes. They really are of the rugged variety and can't imagine smelling this on the female persuasion. The only note tempering this down at all is the Lily of the Valley and even though it's acting as a restraint of sorts, it barely does the job. T...
