Chevignon ( Brand ) by Chevignon

Artemesia, Basil, Bergamot, Cumin, Green Notes.
Thyme, Carnation, Rose, Geranium, Muguet, Jasmine.
Patchouli, Oakmoss, Leather, Amber, Musk, Cedar.

Chevignon Brand was released in 1992 and inevitably compared to Polo Crest. I'll avoid that debate and concentrate on telling you about Chevignon.

It was only a few years ago that I recall someone informing me that Bogart was behind this fragrance. That was enlightening, but I can't say that Chevignon is a volume monster like numerous Bogart creations. It's plenty strong, but it's not like some of his notables.

Chevignon opens with a blast of citrus that is green at its core. It's a heavy rendition, but not smothering. In truth, it
smells much better than you would think for a masculine in this price range. Within 15 minutes of application, Chevignon lowers the projection and volume and settles in to become a very pleasant citric with spice and wood undertones.

The floral heart of Chevignon is blurred and I chalk this up to tuning. It's simply not vocal enough and is easily overtaken by the oncoming mossy leather. Make no mistake, it's still an overall nice fragrance, but the heart needs to be raised a hair. Its donation is wispy and unfocused.

The base accord of Chevignon is a very comfortable wear. None of the listed notes dominate and the result is a team effort. The leather ( on me ) comes to the fore, but is complimented by moss, earthy tones and a smidgeon of sensual amber.

Chevignon is a gentleman of the citric variety. The spices are very polite and THAT is unlike Bogart as he seems to revel in polarization. Chevignon also tilts green the entire ride, but only modestly. As already noted, the heart is the achilles heel, but it really doesn't take away from the experience of wearing this. The base and drydown afford a comfortable leathery wood accented with mossy musk.

I like this fragrance, but recommend a sample wear if possible. Although discontinued, Chevignon Brand can still be periodically found for very economical prices if one is patient.

Thumbs up from Aromi for Bogart on his best behavior and his Chevignon.
