Gucci Nobile

This 1988 Fresh Fougere from Gucci has crossover ability in terms of categorization. It leans green and its DNA fits into the fougere family nicely.

Nobile is a very nice masculine scent. It's not unique in its construction or fragrance character, but it is good enough to be sought after and command high prices due to its discontinued status.

Nobile opens with a smooth accord of spicy citrus, lavender and a hint of licorice. Just a hint mind you and it almost immediately ties in with the green aura from the mids. The heart is mildly coniferous and imposes its will on the floral arrangement of Rose, Geranium and Carnation.

The base accord is more of a chypre rendition and while it's good, I wish it were more pronounced. It seems to play an obvious second fiddle to the heart accord. Even the cedar is mild and doesn't assert itself against the listed sandal, amber, moss, musk, patchouli and vetiver. I recall Honorah's Pancaldi having this same dilema of the base not being able to trump the heart. Regardless, a very memorable offering from Gucci and a must try.
