How much wood can a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood? This, my friends, is a cedar-fest if there ever was one.

If a fragrance could be compared to, let's say, a baseball team.......this squad would consist of basically one player covering every position. I like cedar ( I guess) as much as the next person and I can't think of a more appropriate frag to reach for when I have a jones for wood.

The bottle is extremely nice. The aesthetics, feel and sprayer are commendable. However, if you like your woods in the company of other outspoken players, Tumulte will disappoint. This is in your face cedar that leans on the dry side. While it's a good rendition of the note due to 4 different cedar implementations, it tends to get monotonous rather quickly. There are a few other listed notes that I can only assume are included to augment the dominant wood, but they fail ( on me) to have any impression.

At any rate, am I glad to have a bottle of Tumulte? Yes......I am. This is wood out the Wazoo that is housed in one of my favorite bottles. I'm not quite sure what the name Tumulte has to do with Sir Woodzalot. What is "hurried" or rushed about a cedar fragrance? I'm clueless, but I own more misnamed scents than this one I can assure you.

All wood lovers need to sample this at least once. You will smell like you just jumped out of a large cedar cabinet and still have sawdust in your pockets. Thumbs up for the very linear ( but good) Tumulte by Lacroix.

    A hidden gem. Could do with a bit more strength but maybe if it were stronger it wouldn't be so comforting to wear.

    I hadn't translated until now but Tumulte is a very close relative to Gucci Rush Men so maybe there is a hurrying theme in cedarwood after all.

    Interesting. I have yet to sample Rush but do have plans on doing so. I still can't see the correlation between cedarwood and being in a hurry.....but hell.....what do I know? lol...

    When moths smell cedar they are in a hurry to get out of the closet LOL. Rush is quite close but a lot more pungeant. And very hard to find these days.

    Great description - I feel like I understand this one now. This fragrance sounds very nice. Although I generally prefer things that have some things other than wood in them, sometimes I just want to smell that cedar chest! And that bottle is awesome, too. I'll be watching for this one.

I felt compelled to revisit DK Men ( Fuel for Men ) after perusing through some older samples and then reading my previous review from 2009. Newport by Caswell Massey

Bergamot, Mandarin, Lemon, Lavender, Geranium, Muguet, Rose, Ambergris, Cedar, Sandalwood, Vanilla, Musk. After wearing Newport by Caswell Massey a few times and then reading what others had to say about this recent formulation, I found some of the opinions harsh. I have no way to compare it to the heralded vintage formula, nor can I use memory as I've never tried the original. Enter the current version. I do agree with some reviews that this rendition does not bring about the sense of beach and salt, but there's a long line of fragrances that fail to represent their depictions. However, Newport isn't so far off the mark that it's a complete misrepresentation. I can imagine wearing Newport ( or something similar ) in a beach setting. It smells classic due to the way Citrus, Lavender and Geranium are implemented. It's assuredly retro, but it seems to have that intangible I like that keeps me sniffing. Newport, at least on my skin, is top heavy in the sens...

Black Suede by Avon

Nutmeg, Clove, Amber, Musk, Moss, Wood Notes. Yes.........I am reviewing one of the Rodney Dangerfield's of fragrance. Black Suede has been gracing medicine cabinets, for better or worse, since 1980 my friends. If you're expecting me to inform you ( like others may have already ) that Black Suede is a nasty scrubber, you will be disappointed. On the other hand, if you're expecting a glowing review claiming it's a diamond in the rough, you won't hear that from me either. I will say though that Black Suede doesn't deserve the hate it's received and most of that is due to snobbery aimed at Avon products in general. I kid you not when I state that a close relative to this fragrance is Cacharel Pour L'Homme. The array of spice in both ensure comparison, but the "smoother" of the two is Black Suede due to its implementation of Amber. While wearing Black Suede, one can detect a hint of "drugstore". That quality doesn't manife...
