Attar de Roses is Keiko's interpretation of a standout rose. The very first thing I noticed upon application was the signature softness of this house. Attar de Roses is a demure rendition of multiple rose notes reacting as one flower.
My impression is that this particular fragrance would make a nice choice for up close and personal encounters. The rose note is gentle and on me, it's slightly dusty. You could be in an embrace with someone wearing this and it would never distract you. If you were truly mindful, you would conclude that the scent is actually embracing the wearer.
Attar de Roses is constructed in what seemed like simple fashion at first. Once the opening has dissipated, what smells like sandal is evident in the base. This fragrance seemed like it was more suitable for the female persuasion, but my perception of it changed after around 20 minutes. The woody note is notable in that it's evident as the heart accord commences, but right when you think it should picking up steam, it dissolves into a leather.
The leathery rose accord stays around a good amount of time before relinquishing a minimal amount of resin. The amber never gets very noticeable in the conventional sense, but it does fatten up the drydown just enough to help the leather along. I only wish it was a more vocal note in order to give Attar de Roses one more stage of dimension.
Sillage is very polite as you might expect from Keiko, but the longevity was better than I anticipated. This is an interesting fragrance and found it to be more of a leather scent with rose attributes after 15 to 20 minutes. A sample wear is recommended and a neutral rating with an asterisk is forthcoming from me.
